Making a Difference Together

Hear from the volunteers, partners, and supporters who bring Project Friendship to life.

Project Friendship played a vital role in the success of our JCPS events through their generous donations. Their support helped us serve our students and families in meaningful ways, making a lasting impact on our community. Partnering with them was seamless, and we deeply appreciate their commitment to giving back. We look forward to working together again in the future!

The Friendship Corner has given me the opportunity to help my clients access items that we otherwise could not provide, like winter coats, shoes, and even a blood pressure monitor. My favorite item that’s been donated through the Friendship Corner isn’t very out of the ordinary, but it made a big difference. A client of mine (76F) relies on public transportation to get to our meetings, to run errands, and to socialize. There were a couple of weeks in November where she was stuck in the house due to her old shoes wearing out. She hurt her foot and even missed one of our appointments because of the injury. We were able to get her some extra wide walking shoes in her size right after Thanksgiving, and she was so grateful! She is now in the process of becoming a telephone reassurance volunteer for JFCS, hoping to give back to the community.

Project Friendship is the hidden gem in the Louisville community that has gained popularity just by word of mouth. When I talk about Project Friendship to interested volunteers, they are grateful there is an organization that promotes sustainability and gives back tremendously in the Louisville community…free of charge! I am appreciative that JFCS has a great partnership with Project Friendship serving our clients and offering volunteers the opportunities to give back. I am looking forward to having more opportunities for volunteers support Project Friendship. If you like to organize and bring smiles to people, this organization is for you!

The Friendship Corner has allowed me to address some immediate needs of my clients in our first meetings, especially when the seasons change and clients are concerned about the cold weather. One of my favorite items that someone got was a silk scarf. This person had recently moved from a warmer climate and was very concerned about the coming winter. They wore the scarf all the time.
Something else that I appreciated was being able to give out Halloween costumes last year. My clients are dedicated parents and they don’t want their children to miss out, so they had been planning to purchase costumes for their children. However, for many of them, that would have meant buying less groceries or being late on a bill. The Friendship Corner saves people money that they do not have to spend.
Another story – I had a client who was out of work for an extended time due to a work-related back injury. Project Friendship just happened to have a Lazy Boy recliner that we gave him. It helped his back a great deal.
